The 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship season kicked off in Phillip Island, Australia this weekend and the PTR Triumph Factory Racing team got off to a great start with Tom Booth-Amos standing on the podium in both races, finishing a stunning second place in race one and taking his first World Supersport win in race two.

With mandatory pit stops, the Australian round always throws up dramatic races and this weekend was no exception. Booth-Amos qualified on the front row in second for race one and the British rider kept his cool, delivering his best World Supersport weekend to date, beating his previous best finish of third.

For Sunday’s race, he lined up in fourth and soon hit the front, leading for much of the race. After the pit stop, he fought his way back through to take the lead and claim his first World Supersport victory and leaves the first round joint top of the rider standings.

New signing Oli Bayliss had a strong debut race weekend with the PTR Triumph Factory Racing team, finishing seventh in both races in front of his home crowd. The Australian rider sits fourth in the championship after the first round with Triumph at the top of the manufacturer’s championship.

Tom Booth-Amos, #69: “I’m over the moon to come away with a first and a second this weekend and to be leading the championship for the first time. I didn't really expect it.  I can’t thank the guys at PTR Triumph Factory Racing enough. Hopefully now we can just continue this forward for the rest of the year and fight for the title.”

Oli Bayliss, #32: “Not a bad first weekend with PTR Triumph Factory Racing. Two 7th place finishes. I wish I could’ve done a bit better in race two but after a mistake in the first stint and not the best pit stop we were sitting around 15th position so it wasn’t a bad comeback back to 7th. The feeling and data we get on the bike improves each session so we need to keep working for Portimao. Big thanks to my team and my sponsors.”

PTR Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager, Simon Buckmaster: “What can I say, Tom rode a flawless race, so smooth, congratulations to him. Congratulations to Oli as well on his two seventh places.  We couldn’t have wanted for more. I want to congratulate my whole team for all the effort - it has paid off, the bike looked really good.  This is a special moment as it’s also the first time a Triumph has led a world championship in road racing. It’s a great reward for all the hard work put in and we will now look forward to Portimao.”

PTR Triumph Factory Racing will be back in action for round two of the FIM Supersport World Championship at Portimao, Portugal on 28-30 March.
